Directors of the company, Alex and Annette Murray, established Alex Murray Construction in 1990.

Alex Murray Construction Ltd is one of the largest family run building contractors in the Western Isles. We are based in our centrally located island road offices. For nearly twenty years we have been delivering solutions to meet the needs of clients. Our experience, expertise and resources, combined with our teamwork approach, have allowed us to build up a proven track record.

Alex Murray Construction has been building on success after success since 1990. This is an ever-changing and volatile industry, but remaining constant are our client’s needs for the highest quality, the lowest costs, the utmost safety and all in the quickest time. By working one to one and in partnership with the client Alex Murray Construction succeeds.

The Company operates a fleet of thirty vehicles including vans, cars, pickups, lorries and general heavy plant.

We presently employ approximately 80 operatives including joiners, bricklayers, slater & roughcasters, electricians, plumbers, painter & decorators, labourers and apprentices in all the trades. All our operatives hold CSCS cards. Our Management team includes Alex Murray, Managing Director; Annette Murray, Financial Director; Gary Wood, Commercial Manager and Ian Don Macdonald, Sites Manager. Our office staff includes, Mairi Mackenzie, Accounts, Alison Currie, Accounts, Kerri Mackenzie, Admin, Richard Edwards, Buyer, Duncan Macdonald, Designer and Murray Smith, CAD Operator. Investor In People Status was achieved and has been maintained since April 2001.
